 Best known as the 2008 winner of HGTV’s Design Star, Jennifer Bertrand brings an innate creativity, energy, and passion to her viewers. Considering her work has been featured nationally in both premium design markets and local art galleries, her attitude toward design is extremely down-to-earth and approachable. She believes design should reflect the homeowner’s lifestyle and should encourage living and enjoyment of the space rather than just a lovely atmosphere. She views herself as a talented artist with a bubbly personality who loves to inspire others to enjoy the design process.
Jennifer says her passion for design began when she saw her mother “magically” transform their modest surroundings into an elegant environment each time they moved between Air Force bases growing up. The years she spent living abroad offered further inspiration from decorative grand palaces to rustic outdoor antique markets. After teaching art in elementary schools in Kansas and Italy, Jennifer and her English husband, Chris, started a decorative painting business, Bertrand Designs, in Olathe, Kansas. Their work has been featured in some of the finest spaces in the Kansas City area. Jennifer’s business will be a featured area for the duration of the Home Show and she will give presentations from the entertainment stage. |
